Jupiter Ascending
Jupiter Ascending: 2/5
Horrible movie to see in a theater for $8-$10, wait for Redbox, Netflix, or if you have a free ticket. I took a chance due to the
fact that the studios took a lot of time
and money in redoing a lot of the film cause the reviews were so bad before
putting it out last year. Can't imagine how bad it was originally. Simple reason ... crammed WAY too much into one movie. Basically the opposite of The Hobbit trilogy.
I mean, the story was WAY too complex for a single movie, there were too many important and awesome characters that felt "thrown in there", and the whole movie was way too big ... all cause it was just in one movie. In all honesty, it felt awkward too. It felt like a combination of Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy (character wise), Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Universe, and The Fifth Element.
BUT. the imagination
was great, the story was fun and while not totally unique it did have it's own
feel to it, and as always Mila and Channing were a pleasure.

~~~~~~~SPOILERS~~~~~~~~~
The basic concept
here is families own the planets of the universe, including us. The most
powerful family owns us, actually. Now, the woman who owned us lived a long
time and died (leaving it vague in case anyone wants to still see this). When
she died her planets were willed off to her 3 children. These beings revel that
reincarnation exists and that the mother's reincarnate, Mila (which was in the
previews so don't flip on me), is entitled to Earth via her past incarnates
will. To get Earth then one of these three must convince her (Mila) or trick
her into giving it up.
Now, to do this movie
right they should've done 2 movies. This first one where Mila and Channing meet
and he explains everything to her. Maybe have some tragedy happen to her actual
family. Then have them taken to the daughter of the galactic siblings as she
was sort of neutral. Then face the younger brother to only have more loss and
then back to the sister's.
Then, in the second
movie, they regroup and prepare to defend Earth and go after the older brother.
Simple and yet with the possibility to be so epic!!!
